Folklands is run by Sydney based artist John-Michael Papagianopoulos. It was started simply as a means to release creative energy, eventually escalating into something much more.
At present that energy is being driven into hand drawing tribal inspired designs onto t-shirts using fabric markers. Given the nature of the medium, these shirts are by no means perfect machine-made specimens; in fact they are quite the opposite. Rather than a mass produced product, each design is limited to only 111 prints. There is no screen printing involved; it is a more intimate form of hand drawing each design.
The end creation is a unique garment, never truly identical to the other.
